Welcome to Busan

I spent two weeks in Seoul since arriving in South Korea. Time flies, but there is so much to see. It’s time to pack my bags and head to the second largest city in this country: Busan. Head south!

To get there, I chose to take the train. It’s about 3h-4h by train. Depending on which you take, the journey is more or less short and, of course, the train ticket more or less expensive. I didn’t even try to make a reservation online. One of the disadvantages (unless you know another tactic) is that you are regularly asked for a Korean telephone number to take advantage of advance reservations, for the train, but also for certain restaurants.

So I went to the Seoul train station a good hour before departure. The individual terminals were not accessible to me, because I did not have a Korean telephone number. Never mind, I went to the counter. If you arrive at the right time, the line is not very long. Generally speaking, wherever you queue in Korea, it moves pretty quickly. Ticket in pocket: here I am Busan!

Thanks to my T-Money Card (seen in the previous article), I didn’t have to worry about having a valid ticket for the metro/bus once there. All I had to do was decipher the metro maps and make my way with my suitcases to my new accommodations.

The place was very nice, a little more modern than my previous Guesthouse, however, I found it a little less welcoming. Maybe I’m not biased, I have a preference for older homes. However, everything is sent by message, the door code, that of your room: in short, fend for yourself. However, the few times I encountered the employees, they were very courteous and helpful.

As with my arrival in Seoul, I arrived late in the afternoon and the gymnastics with my luggage in addition to the journey did not encourage me to go out before the next morning. Go to bed!

The next day, not early, I admit, I left my bed and met another guest I met the night before. We decided to go to lunch together (I said I didn’t get up early). Fortunately and to our great pleasure, a whole food market was located two streets from our accommodation. We took care to look all around before deciding which specialties we were going to eat. He left the guesthouse the same evening, but the next day I met other people with whom I would go on a little tour for the next two weeks.

On the program, a lot of things. But we’ll talk about it again next week.
